Description
This nose panel was removed from a McLaren MP4/13 Formula One show car used during the 1998 season. The carbon-fiber panel is finished in a silver and black West livery and includes a nose cone carrying a dual-element front wing via curved pylons.
The MP4/13 was introduced at McLaren’s Woking headquarters in February 1998 as the first McLaren car designed under the lead of technical director Adrian Newey and featured revised aerodynamics while retaining the MP4/12’s low-nose profile. The MP4/13 was driven by Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard to nine wins during the 1998 season, earning McLaren-Mercedes the constructor’s championship and Häkkinen the driver’s title.
This nose panel was removed from a show car and is finished in the silver and black West livery worn by McLaren cars during the 1998 season. Details include a fluorescent red accent on the underside of the nose and sponsorship graphics including West, British Aerospace, Bridgestone, and Mobil.
The panel measures approximately 55” in width and 35” in length. The interior surfaces of the nose cone feature exposed carbon fiber, while two quick-release pegs are present on the rear mating surface.
